Beasts of the Southern Wild

Every year there is at least one film that crosses creative boundaries and really connects with viewers at the Sundance Film Festival, this year that film was, Beasts of the Southern Wild. This unique and intriguing film about the wonder of a child's imagination and optimism has now come home to DVD & Blu-ray from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on December 4, 2012.

Newcomer Quvenzhané Wallis delivers an “Oscar®-worthy performance” (Philadelphia Daily News) as Hushpuppy, the six-year-old force of nature in an isolated bayou community. When her tough but loving father Wink (Dwight Henry) succumbs to a mysterious malady, the fierce and determined girl bravely sets out on a journey to the outside world. Beasts of the Southern Wild is a very unique film that pulled at my heart strings. It is filled with narrative quotes and beautiful cinematography that stuck with me long after the film. I was drawn by the strength and optimism of Hushpuppy, as she thrived through life in what would seem to most of us, the bleakest of situations.  I love many of Hushpuppy's quotes--you can check out some of the best ones in this Beast of the Southern Wild digital flipbook.
