Those of you, who grew up during this era realize the amazing impact The Ed Sullivan Show had on the landscape of American television and music history. Sullivan's stage was home to the most iconic performances by groundbreaking artists like The Rolling Stones. It was the longest-running primetime variety show in American television history and is an institution in pop culture!
Here is the synopsis of the 4 Ed Sullivan Shows starring The Rolling Stones from the back of the 2 DVD set:
Long acclaimed as "the world's greatest rock 'n roll band," The Rolling Stones are still going strong today--a half century after they changed music history. Virtually every Rolling Stones' hit of the 60's was performed on "The Ed Sullivan Show."
An appearance in the spotlight on Sullivan's variety show (35 million viewers) sent fans racing to the record stores the next morning to buy the songs first heard on his television show or local radio. These eye-popping, musical gems have never been seen in the context of the full Sullivan shows that were originally broadcast live.
Enjoy The Rolling Stones as you've seldom seen them--young, edgy and electrifying--and on their way to conquering the world!

I did not grow up with The Ed Sullivan Show but I am well aware of the impact it played in musical and television history and I have always enjoyed watching clips and such of the show and honestly, there are probably very few adults living today who do not recognize at least a few of The Rolling Stones' songs--they are iconic and even a bit intriguing. I was able to view the 4 Ed Sullivan Shows starring The Rolling Stones which I really enjoyed it was interesting to see The Rolling Stones when they were still getting their feet wet in the music business, plus it was fun to see some Ed Sullivan Shows in their entirety (including the commercials) it was fun to see how different things are and to see how some things are still similar.
If you or someone on your holiday gift list are fans of The Rolling Stones and/or the Ed Sullivan Show, or simply enjoy music and television history either the 4 Ed Sullivan Shows starring The Rolling Stones or the 6 Ed Sullivan Shows starring The Rolling Stones (Deluxe Edition) would be great additions.
