Award-winning novelist, Jamie Carie has recently released her first book in her new Forgotten Castles series, called The Guardian Duke (B&H Books, 2012). The Guardian Duke is a romantic adventure that takes place during the Regency-era.
Here is the synopsis of The Guardian Duke from the back cover of the book:
Someday I will meet you and see your face.
Gabriel, the Duke of St. Easton, is ordered by the king to take guardianship over Lady Alexandria Featherstone whose parents are presumed dead after failing to return from a high-profile treasure hunt. But the heart-driven Alexandria ignores this royal reassignment. Believing her parents are still alive, she travels to faraway lands to follow clues that may lead to their whereabouts.
Gabriel, pressured by the regent's ulterior motives, pursues Alexandria across windswept England and the rolling green hills of Ireland but is always one step behind.
When they do meet, the search for earthly treasure begins to pale in comparison to what God had planned for both of them.
I enjoy historical fiction and I enjoyed reading The Guardian Duke. I found it to be a light read that is appropriate for teens as well as adults. I found Alexandria to be fresh and spunky and Gabriel to be inspirational as he worked to overcome some of the obstacles life had thrown at him. There is plenty of adventure with some clean romance thrown in that it kept my attention and even pulled on my heartstrings a little bit. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series (scheduled to come out later this year--check out their Facebook page to learn more) to discover more of the answers!
