Oscar Winning The Descendants Now On DVD

Based on the best-selling novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings and set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki.  The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.

This week I sat down to watch The Descendants, other than knowing that George Clooney was the lead and that the bases of the story centered around his sudden need to step up to care for his children while his wife was in the hospital, I did not know much else of the story line. 


Without going into any details that may give any part(s) of the story away,  I will say this.  Image your life is going along as planed and then without any warning everything you held true was no more.  Your marriage on every level is over, your work has reach its peek and decisions must be made, top that with teen age children that need you now more than ever and you have the story of Matt King.

It is easy to see how The Descendants have won so many awards, it is also easy to see how anyone's life could take a twist just like Matt King's has in just a matter of seconds.
