I know I am a bit late on this, but did you realize March was National Craft Month? I sure didn't! I honestly would love to honor it all year long! I love spending time in my craft room. Unfortunately, it hasn't been as often as I would like lately, but when I get there, it is just a little bit of heaven for me!
Recently, I learned that Dinosaur Train has teamed up with Quilting Treasures in honor of National Craft Month. Quilting Treasure has created a wonderful line of quilt fabric that feature, Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don and all the other characters from one of my child's favorite PBS Kids shows, Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train! The line is bright and colorful, perfect for use with and for children! You can learn more about The Jim Henson Company's projects like Dinosaur Train by following him on Facebook and Twitter. Also, you can keep up to date on all the PBS Kids happening by following them on Facebook and Twitter!
Now if you have a Dinosaur Train fan in your household, I recommend joining Dinosaur Train's Nature Trackers Club! It is a FREE community of children, along with their families and educators, who LOVE exploring, having adventures and learning respect for the environment! Through the Dinosaur Train's Nature Tracker's Club, you will find lots of fun activities, games and craft projects each month! As a member, parents can download and print out the Nature Tracker's Guide Book, which is filled with tips and challenges for collecting things from nature, plus, tracking and observing plants and animals! Each month, there will be new challenges and other info for you and your young explorers to check out. Here is a peek at March's Monthly Challenge!
Now that your little on is a member of the Dinosaur Train Nature Tracker's Club, it is time to put that Quilting Treasures' fabric to good use! Time to turn the plain ol' bedroom into a Dinosaur Train Nature Tracker "clubhouse"!
There is just so much you can do to create the perfect environment to encourage and excite your child using the Quilting Treasures' 1 2 3 Dinosaur Train line of fabric. Here are some ideas:
*Dinosaur Train quilt (here is the a link to the Dino 1-2-3 quilt pattern I am working on getting all the fabric to make for my son--I am making Version B and adjusting it to make a twin bed--I am so excited!!!)
*Pillow/cushion covers
*Curtains
*Upholstered headboard
*Fabric Lampshade
*Fabric Picture Frame
*Bulletin Board
*No Sew Book Cover (perfect for covering a binder holding the Nature Tracker's Guidebook)
*I am sure you can think of more uses for this delightful fabric!
You can find directions of how to make the lampshade, picture frame, bulletin board and no sew book cover on the Quilting Treasures website, super cute and easy, even without a lot of crafting experience!
My son is a huge Dinosaur Train fan and I love to quilt (machine, not hand, as much as I would love to, I simply don't have time and I like to make my quilts to be well loved!), so being able to team up our two favorites is wonderful! My son, desperately needs a larger quilt (made by me) for his big boy bed and this is the perfect opportunity! The fabric is good quality and washes well! The bright colors make it perfect for boys or girls!
I do need to remind you that this fabric, as most quilt fabrics, are not designed to be used in children's sleepwear (there is special fabric for that).
Thank you to 360 comm for my samples used in this review, opinions are honest. Review by Michelle.
