If you are looking for a fun and free way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day you should head downtown on Saturday for the annual St. Patrick's Day Marching Band Parade.  Thanks to the State Journal-Register for the following information:

The parade starts at Noon on Saturday.  It begins at 6th and Jefferson near the Lincoln Library and Museum.  It heads west on Jefferson to 5th then turns south on 5th to Capitol Avenue on the west side of the Old State Capital.  Then it will go east on Capitol Avenue to 6th. Next it turns north on 6th to the reviewing stand and Washington Street which is the family friendly area.  Then it turns east on Washington St to 7th before ending at the Horace Mann Educators Corp. parking lot.

The participating marching bands will be judged in the 200 block of South 6th Street so if you want to hear them perform that is the area to be.
