Pepperidge Farm 75th Anniversary + New Product Review

This past August 15th, Pepperidge Farm celebrated their 75th anniversary.  On August 15th, 1937, Margaret Rudkin, a Connecticut mother who began experimenting with baking her own preservative-free bread for her son who suffered from allergies, sold the first “official” loaf of Pepperidge Farm bread to a local grocer. Within two years, more than 1 million loaves of bread were baked and sold.

Another important anniversary is coming up for Pepperidge Farm; the Goldfish crackers will be celebrating its 50th birthday later this year.  This line is so popular they now produce 142 billion crackers annually as well as 558 million Milano cookies.

Pepperidge Farm is not stopping their growth as a company and they are bringing at least 35 new items to market.

Thanks to Pepperidge Farm, I was sent samples of some of the new products including:

  • Jingos! crackers– Featuring bold flavor and a snappy crunch, these brand new snack crackers are available in three varieties: zesty Lime & Sweet Chili, savory Parmesan Garlic, and smoky Fiesta Cheddar
  • Milano Slices and Milano Melts – The iconic Milano cookie family expands with open-faced Milano Slices in Salted Pretzel – a temptingly crunchy combination of sweet and salty flavors – and Milano Melts Vanilla Crème – a crispy, chocolaty cookie with a velvety filling
My family and I decided to start sampling the Jingos! crackers first.  We found that there was a flavor for each of our tastes.  I enjoyed the Parmesan Garlic the most, my husband loved the Lime & Sweet Chili and my daughter who loves cheese really liked the Fiesta Cheddar.  All of the crackers are very crunchy and full of flavor.  The flavor is not overpowering but has a nice aftertaste. The Jingos! are baked and have no artificial preservatives.

After we were done enjoying the crackers we tried the Milano Slices Salted Pretzel Cookies. This is a great item if you like salty and sweet treats.  The cookies are thin and covered with a layer of chocolate and topped with small pretzel pieces.  I like that the cookies are not too thick and that there is plenty of chocolate on top.  We finished with the Milano Melts.  They have combined the crunchy cookie with a really tasty creme filling.  These cookies are the perfect size; not too thick and not too thin.  I have had cookies like this before but the cookies were soft so it was a nice change of pace to have a crisp cookie with creme in the middle.

An extra benefit of the Pepperidge Farm products is that there are Labels for Education on every package.  A lot of schools collect these labels so if yours does not or you don't have any children in school I am sure you can find one that would happily accept them.

Thanks to Pepperidge Farm for my samples for review. Opinions are honest.
