Costumes are not just for Halloween, in fact it is an important role in most children's development which is why this summer we are encouraging our daughter to put down the electronics and do more pretend play.
I think that our daughter enjoys dressing up because she has visited the Disney Parks and has fallen in love with the stories and characters. On our last trip she had a goal which was to meet the Mad Hatter while being dressed as the Mad Hatter, sadly the timing never worked out for her but she did get to meet him and was able to enjoy dressing up they just never crossed paths at the same time.
