Feeling
like an outcast seems to be a part of every persons life at some point.
It shouldn't have to be but that is just a part of life whether its

we've all felt this way before. Ruthie Briggs-Greenberg tackles this
subject in her new children's book, "Felicity the Dragon".
Gorgeously
illustrated, every page a masterpiece, the story tells of a dragon, but
not your typical dragon. "No smoke from her nose, no spikes on her
toes, and her wings were to tiny to carry her hiney." Felicity is a
different kind of dragon. She keeps to her self, is small and does all
the things that other dragons would never do. However, on day a young
boy falls into the castle moat and Felicity leaps into action, making
new friends in the process. This book has several themes important to
both children and parents, such as:
- How hard it is to make friends at any age when you don't feel "normal"
- The importance of being yourself and finding people who like the person you are
- Why self-reliance and tenacity are two of the biggest keys to success for any endeavor
- What it means to be a friend and how friends help one another
- Women/girls can be the heroes of the story, no "white knight" needed
A book to charm parents and entertain children, and maybe help just the right child through a rough patch, "Felicity the Dragon" is a perfectly practical and fun gift for Christmas.
