Every time I told someone we were going to Pigeon Forge the first thing I was asked "is Dollywood on your list" and the answer was YES.  Having never been to Dollywood before and knowing the parks offers more than anyone can do in one day so I have complied a Top 10 Things to do at Dollywood list.

#1-Dolly Childhood Home - this cabin is a replica of home the Parton Family raised their family.  Thanks to the help of Dolly's brother Bobby and Mother Avie Lee many of the items on display are original family heirlooms.

#2- Craftsman's Valley - where you can see firsthand how glass is blown, a blacksmith at work, candles being made, wood carvers as well as personalized jewelry.

#3- Miss Lilly's Chicken House - an all you care to eat buffet offering all your Southern favorites.  While there make sure Miss Lilly visits your table so that you can get your very own chicken blessing.

#4- Dollywood Express Train - this train ride is unlike any other theme park train I have been on.  Leaving only several times a day, this train takes you on a tour of the Smokey Mountains and share with you historical facts that will give you a whole new appreciation for the region and the steam engine.

#5- Dreansong Theater - here you will be taken on a musical journey throughout Dolly Parton's life, and who better to tell the story than her own family, who star in the show.

#6- Calico Falls Schoolhouse -  this one room schoolhouse is a must for children to see first hand to experience what school was like as my daughter said "back in the day"

#7- Robert F. Thomas Chapel - this treasure sits back and if you are fortunate to be visiting the park on a Sunday morning welcomes you to attend services.

#8- The Eagle Mountain Sanctuary - with a collection of American birds on display, here you can view the birds, see them in their natural elements as they fly free through a screened in area and also get up close and personal with these beautiful animals when they put on one of several shows throughout the day.

#9- Dolly's Home on Wheels - it's not every day you can walk onto a tour bus and see firsthand what life on the road is like.  This bus was home to Dolly, her best friend/manager and driver for over ten years.

#10- Thrill Rides - no trip to Dollywood would be complete without getting on a few rides. No matter your level of comfort level with rides they have something for you.  From the tallest and fastest roller coasters to the merry go round you must do yourself a favor and have fun, throw some caution to the wind, buckle your seat belt and have FUN!

Trust me when I say Dollywood has something to offer the entire family regardless of age or interest.   The park is kept in pristine condition, and employs some of the kindest people I have ever met.

I also encourage you to take advantage of the arrive after 3, the next day is free offer that gives you an extra day to enjoy the park so you don't miss out on anything Dollywood has to offer.
