Teaching children about delicate subjects and events throughout history is something every parent is cautious about going into it. Sometimes the easiest way to teach children about these things is to let them see it from another child's point of view. Barrons Educational Series Inc. Has a series of books that lets children do just that, and the book I get to tell you about today is Great Escapes - Underground Railroad 1854: Perilous Journey.

In Great Escapes - Underground Railroad 1854: Perilous Journey, you follow George and Ruth, two teenagers who must rely on the assistance of fellow teenager, and Underground Railroad Conductor, Nathan. Their lives depend on him, but they are worried about his inexperience. Will they be able to work together, or as the bounty hunters close in, will their fears make them pay a terrible price?

The Great Escapes series from Barron's explores real events throughout history and shows them through the eyes of a child, and shows children working together to change the world. Historical figures (such as Harriet Tubman) are worked into the stories so that children can further explore these people and places in history. Barron's Educational Series also offers Great Escapes - Mount St. Helens 1980: Fiery Eruption!
