Growing up, it seemed like no matter what
I tried, I struggled at math. I found it hard and quite honestly, not
interesting at all. My children have discovered this same thing,
although they both seem to be very good at it so far. Barron's has
discovered the perfect way to put together fun and learning so that kids
actually want to learn. They have so many educational books and it has
become my personal quest to have my boys try them all out. For math, one
Barron's book I have been given as a review features counting animals
in their own habitats, that book is Colossal Creature Count.
In
Colossal Creature Count, You are given two side-by-side pages that show
a scene in a certain habitat, and that habitat is covered in indigenous
creatures. One of the pages will have an equation, and you're given the
answer, the only problem is you have to use your seeking and counting
skills to count certain animals and make their numbers add up to the
total. The animals are in plain sight, but at the same time are hidden
amongst lots of other animals! The challenges take you on a journey to
the African savannah, a deep sea dive, the Himalayas, and even the
Peruvian jungle. Over 18 habitats there are also 18 extra rare animals
to check off while you're on your counting adventure. Can you find them
all?
