For a long time I have been a fan of graphic novels, comics, super power, and heroes and I am more than happy to know that I have passed this love on to my two boys. When you can enjoy a book, and still have an adventure with an awesome super hero and enjoy detailed illustrations. My sons always seem to like the fight scenes best. I like when comics look the way they used to, when my dad would show me some that he had kept from when he was young. Jay Piscopo created The Undersea Adventures of Capt'n Eli, in the image of those classic comic books I loved growing up.
Jay Piscopo has written his graphic novels in the tradition of comics, what they should be, fun. Capt'n Eli is a testament to that. Created with the intention of being more than a brand mascot, Capt'n Eli worked his way up from the "bottom", as a brand mascot. He was the mascot for Eli Forsley's Root Beer, and was depicted as a kid in a raincoat, in a rowboat, with a parrot. Eli Forsley's son, Fred, knew that Capt'n Eli could be a positive addition to childrens entertainment, and that is where Jay Piscopo stepped in and where Capt'n Eli started moving up in the world. From brand mascot, to restaurant placemat activities, and then eventually to the Capt'n Eli depicted in Jay's current comics.
Capt'n Eli is a 10 year old boy, with a brilliant mind and many aquatic skills, he travels and investigates the deep, accompanied by his dog, Barney, and his 200 year old parrot, Jolly Roger. He is a junior member of the SEASEARCHERS, a team that formed for aquatic rescue and exploration. Capt'n Eli and his crew will take you on adventures featuring time travel, high-tech ships, flying mini-subs, robots, lost civilizations, and undersea empires in conflict.
