Growing
up as a tom-boy myself, I can relate to little girls (like my niece)
who just cant cooperate in a pretty dress. Now, things have changed as
I've grown so I now appreciate pretty clothes, and plan accordingly so
as not to mess them up. However, when you are younger, and have nothing
but the possibility of adventure staring you in the face, it's hard to
sit and be proper. This is something the young Alise has to deal with in
The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today, the 6th installment
in the Swan Princess franchise, and the story of how Princess Alise
became Pirate Alise.
Growing
up I was a huge fan of the Swan Princess but after the first and second
movies I kind of lost interest, not going to lie about it... it is the
3D look of it that throws me off, just a personal thing. My niece
however, has all of the DVDs thanks to yours truly. (Growing up, I was
the little girl with the Swan Princess bedding.) Any who, in the 6th
installment, Young Alise is busy receiving her princess training from
her grandmother, Queen Uberta. However, all she wants to do is be a
swashbuckling pirate! Young and adventuresome, Alise decided to set sail
with Lord Rogers, Jean-Bob the frog, and Speed the turtle on a journey
across the high seas! After a shipwreck lands the daring crew on a
mysterious and dangerous island, they meet Lucas, a young boy who has
been secluded on the island. Now the group and their new friend must
work together to escape the island and the hungry creatures that inhabit
it.
To
celebrate the new film, we received a fun princess/pirate activity kit,
filled with activities to get us in the mood for an adventure. We
adorned our selves in our pirate/princess gear and prepared our spyglass
for adventure by decorating it in our favorite colors. Solving a few
puzzles along the way, we were able to reach our ship and embark on
adventure, with a few containers of popcorn to keep us full on the trip.
